When conflicts in our life appear unresolvable we should humble ourselves—willingly setting aside our own understanding and solution—and strive to see the issue (and person) at hand with God’s vision. As we seek to participate in the Ministry of Reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18) and live as peacemakers, we would do well to remember God’s words to the prophet Samuel, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Sam. 16:7). Reconciling the world to God—which is the only true peace—requires us to set aside our own preferences, perspectives, and preferred solutions in full confidence that the Lord’s way is the best way and that in His time, it will be made clear to those who have “eyes to see and ears to hear”.
