I Am the Way, the Truth, the Life
Each week in our “I AM” sermon series, we have sought to answer two questions. First, who does Jesus say that He is? Second, what difference does that make in our lives? As we consider Jesus’ words in John 14, we build upon six statements Jesus has already made about who He is: the Bread of Life (ch. 6), the Light of the World (ch. 8), the Gate for the Sheep and the Good Shepherd (ch. 10), and the Resurrection and the Life (ch. 11). In John 14, Jesus is preparing the disciples for His departure—Satan has already entered into Judas and Jesus’ crucifixion is imminent. How does Jesus prepare his friends? He reminds them of where (and to whom) He is going, how to get there, and how they are to carry on despite His physical absence (promising a Helper). Come as we together cast down our opinions, our preferences, and our idols in exchange for He who is so much more: the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
