“Job—When Life Doesn’t Make Sense”

Preacher:
Passage: Job 1:1-12, 2:1-7, 19:25-27

Life has never been easy to figure out and has left many with serious doubts about who God is and does he really care about us? And then they read the book of Job and to some that doesn’t help! I love the illustration of C.H. Spurgeon walking through the English countryside with a friend when he noticed the words “God is love” on top of a weather vane. Spurgeon said to his friend, “I think that is an inappropriate place for those words because weather vanes change & God’s love never does.” But his friend replied, “I disagree, to me it says, no matter which way the wind blows, God is still love.” Job got knocked around by the winds of adversity that were obviously allowed by God but in the end the Lord prospered Job again and gave him twice as much as he had before! Life can make sense no matter which way the wind blows when the righteousness, sovereignty and goodness of our God in Jesus is kept ever before us. We hope to see you this Sunday morning!
