Who is like the LORD? This question has underpinned Micah’s call to repentance from the beginning, and now it will be asked directly as Micah concludes his message. In the New Testament, James’ reminder (1:17) that God’s character is unchanging has become a refrain ingrained in our minds, “there is no shadow of turning in Thee.” And it is because of God’s unchanging nature that Micah—and all of faithful Israel—have a reason to rejoice. Micah’s message concludes with a final lament of Israel’s disobedience and the hope-filled reminder that even when Israel is faithless, Israel’s God remains faithful. Let us come with our songs of thanksgiving and hope as we anticipate God’s long-expected restoration.
