Isn’t it interesting how what we label “urgent” we would not also always label “important”? The Preacher writes in Ecclesiastes that God has set eternity in the human heart (3:11). Do you sense eternity stirring in your own heart? What is it like? How do our lost family members, neighbors, coworkers, and friends make sense of this eternal pulse beating inside them? As we assemble together this (and every) Lord’s Day, we are the visible expression of the New Creation and the Gospel—each brother and sister, a redeemed and living sermon! As God has set it in our our hearts, so we—through the Spirit’s help—bring it to our minds, put it on our lips, fixing it to our foreheads, around our necks, and under our feet—ETERNITY.
