Salt and light, enemy love, absolute sexual purity and marital fidelity, 24/7 truth-telling, non-resistance, secrecy and authenticity in giving, prayer, and fasting, storing treasure in heaven (not on earth), not worrying about tomorrow, remembering the plank in my own eye… the Kingdom of Christ is certainly upside-down when compared to the Kingdoms of this world! And when we are confronted with them all at once, it feels like staring right into the sun—our poor little eyeballs have no idea where to begin with so much light. In this week’s sermon, Jesus will tell us where to begin and where to remain: “Ask, Seek, and Knock”.
