One Body, Many Members

Preacher:
Passage: Romans 12:1-8

Join us this Sunday as we begin 2023 as the body of Christ, united in worship. As many in the world gaze reprovingly at their physical bodies in the mirror—calibrating their goals and standards for good physical health according to photoshopped magazine covers and airbrushed advertisements—we, as disciples of Jesus, scrutinize our spiritual health and set our objectives and standards according to the Gospel. Brothers and sisters, let us not be conformed to the way of the world, but transformed—together—through the renewing of our minds, using our gifts to glorify God and encourage one another, offering our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God.

Remember, as we prepare to follow Christ’s example and wash each other’s feet and take the Bread and the Cup, we are called to examine our hearts before God, repenting of our sin and then going to make things right with our brothers. A New Year’s resolution from Romans 12, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
