On Christmas Eve we will gather to reflect on the profound truth of John 1—that the Light of Christ did not begin in a manger, but “in the beginning” with God Himself. As we move from darkness to light we will be reminded that the same Word who spoke light into creation stepped into the darkness of our broken world to save us. We will see how Israel—and all of us—could not overcome darkness on our own, and how the Father, in great love, sent His Son as the Light of the world. This Christmas, we are called not only to receive that Light, but to carry it and shine it into a dark world, bearing witness to the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
